FinLens

How FinLens works

From invitation to a full dashboard in six steps. FinLens works from the statements and alerts your bank already sends you: no net banking password, no screen scraping, no access to move money.

Six steps from invitation to dashboard

  1. Your invitation

FinLens is open by invitation. Request one with your name, mobile number and e-mail address, confirm the address with a code and the number with one tap on WhatsApp, then send it; once an administrator accepts it, you sign up with that number: a code sent to your e-mail address confirms the address, you choose a 6-digit PIN, and you tap Verify Mobile Number in a WhatsApp message to confirm the number is yours.

  2. Signing in

Each time, you enter your mobile number and PIN, then either the one-time code sent to your e-mail or one tap on It's Me in the WhatsApp message we send you; Not Me cancels a sign-in that was not yours. A sign-in lasts 5 days. Five wrong PINs or three wrong codes block sign-in until the administrator lifts the block.

  3. Connect Gmail, or upload

In Profile → Accounts & Connections, Connect Gmail gives FinLens read-only access. From then on, new mail from banks and card issuers is checked every hour from 6 am to 11 pm IST. Statements already in your mailbox, investment exports, credit reports and tax returns are added from the Add pages.

  4. Locked PDFs open themselves

Most Indian statements are password-protected. FinLens works out the password from the issuer's usual rule and the details in your profile; if that fails, it asks you once and keeps the password, encrypted, for that file.

  5. Read and checked

A reader built for each bank's and issuer's statement picks out every row and figure, then checks them: rows against the printed totals, each balance against the last. When no reader claims the file, or its reading does not add up, it is read once with AI help, names and numbers hidden, and imported only if the same checks pass.

  6. Your picture, kept current

Balances, card dues, spending by category, holdings at the latest prices, your credit score and your papers fill the dashboard. Fund NAVs and stock closes are fetched after the market closes on working days, and bill reminders go out at 9 am.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to connect Gmail?

No. Gmail is optional. Everything FinLens reads from mail can also be uploaded as a file, and some members never connect a mailbox.

Will FinLens read my personal e-mails?

It looks only for mail from the senders it knows (banks, card issuers, fund registrars, credit bureaus, insurers and travel providers) and for transaction words in a subject line, such as debited, credited or statement. Fixed rules read those and set aside anything that is not a transaction, bill or statement. The body of an e-mail is never stored, and its text never goes to an AI model, except a single masked sentence about a locked statement's password when no rule opens the file (the Privacy Policy explains it).

How quickly does a new statement appear?

Mail is checked every hour between 6 am and 11 pm IST. An uploaded file is usually read within a few minutes; a long file that needs AI help may take a little longer.

What happens when a statement cannot be read?

It is not imported. The Documents page shows the file with what went wrong, and the administrator sees the same failure and can have it read again once its reader is fixed.

What if my statement PDF is password-protected?

FinLens tries the passwords the issuer's usual rule would make from details in your profile. If none opens it, you are asked once, and the password is kept encrypted for that file. See our guide to locked statements.
