Health, life, term and LIC policies in one place your family can see
On the Healthcare page you keep every policy your family holds: what it covers, who it covers, the nominees, the premium and when the next one falls due. LIC and HDFC ERGO papers fill the details in, and the family members you choose can see the list.

Each policy names its nominees and their shares. With the Insurance area shared, your family sees every policy, its insurer and its dates, never the file.
What the insurance policy tracker holds
Each policy is a record with its insurer, product and plan, the cover, the people it insures, the nominees and their shares, the premium and how often it is paid, and the dates that matter: start, renewal or maturity, when premiums stop and when the next one is due. Healthcare opens with tiles for Policies on file, People covered, Cover in all, Next premium and Documents; then My insurance policies, which you can filter by type, search and sort; and a card of Upcoming premiums, soonest first.
A policy opens on a page of its own that holds every data point on file: the overview, who is covered, every premium with its source, the total paid by financial year, riders or benefits, important dates, the policy's documents and anything else its paper prints.
The problem with policies kept in a drawer
Insurance papers are long and come from different insurers at different times. The renewal date of a health policy, the waiting periods still running, the year a life policy's premiums stop: each sits on a different page of a different PDF. When a premium is close, or a claim has to be made, finding the right line is the hard part.
FinLens keeps those facts on one page per policy and the papers beside them, so a renewal or a claim starts from what you already know.
Who should track insurance this way
- Families with a floater health policy covering several people.
- Anyone holding an LIC or other life policy whose premiums run for many years.
- People who buy a health policy for their parents and want it recorded with the right policyholder and insured persons.
- Anyone with term cover who wants the next premium in sight.
Benefits of keeping insurance policies together
Renewals and premiums ahead
Upcoming premiums lists every renewal and premium due, soonest first. A premium that passes unpaid shows as overdue, then lapsed once the grace days are over.
Benefits and waiting periods
For a health policy read from its document, the schedule of benefits, the add-ons and each waiting period with the day it ends appear on the policy's page.
Premium history
Every premium on file is listed with its due date, amount, GST and where it came from, and Paid by financial year shows the totals as bars.
The premium certificate
A health policy's 80D premium certificate is kept by policy year, as printed, so the figures are at hand when you file your return.
Papers beside the policy
Keep the policy PDF, a premium receipt or a photo of the health card with its policy, stored encrypted.
Sensitive numbers protected
The policy number, dates of birth and health-card member IDs are stored encrypted and shown in full only after your PIN; the page shows the last four characters.
How insurance tracking works in FinLens
Open Healthcare
Healthcare sits under Life in the menu. Under Add a new insurance policy, choose Medical insurance, Life insurance or Term insurance to type a policy in, or Upload policy document.
Let the paper fill it in
HDFC ERGO health policy documents, LIC e-policy documents and LIC premium paid statements are read by fixed rules and fill the policy in. Another insurer's paper may be read once with AI help, names and numbers hidden, and used only if its checks pass; its file is kept beside the policy.
Unlock a locked PDF
FinLens first tries the passwords it can work out, such as LIC's policy number followed by the day and month of the life assured's birth. If none opens the file, it asks you once.
Record what happens
On the policy's page, record a premium paid or a health policy's renewal, mark the policy closed, or reopen it.
Keep it current
Upload next year's renewal document and the policy moves on to its new period, with the earlier period kept in its history. A newer premium statement adds the premiums it lists.
What you provide
- A policy document (PDF), or its details typed in: insurer, product, cover, premium, dates, insured persons and nominees.
- LIC premium paid statements, if you want LIC premiums recorded from the insurer's own list.
- Receipts, health cards or other papers you want kept with a policy, as PDF, JPG, PNG or WebP.
- Your PIN, when you save or view a policy file.
What FinLens reads from a policy paper
- From an HDFC ERGO health policy: cover and deductible, the insured persons, the premium and its breakup per person, the premium certificate by policy year, benefits, add-ons, waiting periods and claim contacts.
- From an LIC e-policy: the plan and its terms, the sum assured, riders, the premium and its mode, the life assured and the nominees with their shares.
- From an LIC premium paid statement: each premium received, with its date and tax, placed on the policy's due dates.
- Whether you are the policyholder, from your name or PAN compared in memory; the PAN is then dropped.
- Never kept: addresses, mobile numbers, e-mail addresses, the agent's or intermediary's details, and any declared health condition.
Limitations and prerequisites
- Fixed rules read three prints: HDFC ERGO health policies, LIC e-policies and LIC premium paid statements. Another insurer's paper may be read with AI help, as below; any policy can also be typed in.
- A policy paper the rules cannot read may be read once by an AI model, with names and policy numbers replaced by placeholders and the provider asked not to store the answer, and is used only if its checks pass. A scanned paper has no text to mask and goes as it is.
- Premiums are not matched to your bank debits automatically. Record a premium on the policy's page if no statement lists it.
- Due dates are shown on Healthcare; FinLens does not send premium or renewal reminders.
- For an LIC policy read from its document, premiums that fell due before the day it was read are taken as paid, unless a premium statement or you record otherwise.
- FinLens does not sell, renew or claim on policies, and nothing on the page is insurance advice.
Questions about insurance in FinLens
Which insurers' documents does FinLens read?
By fixed rules, HDFC ERGO health policy documents, and LIC e-policy documents and premium paid statements. A paper from another insurer may be read once with AI help, names and numbers hidden; any policy can also be typed in, with its paper kept beside it.
Can I add a policy I bought for my parents?
Yes. FinLens tells the policyholder apart from the insured persons, so a policy you hold that covers your father and mother is recorded as yours, covering them.
Who can see my policy number?
The page shows its last four characters. The full number, dates of birth and health-card member IDs are stored encrypted and shown only after you enter your PIN.
Does Ask FinLens know about my policies?
In outline. Ask FinLens can answer about your insurers, products, cover, premiums and dates. It never receives a covered person's name, a policy number or a date of birth.
What if my LIC policy is a scanned bond?
The fixed rules need text, and a scan is a picture. With AI help on, the scan can be read once as it is, unmasked, and is used only if its checks pass. For a reliable reading, upload the e-policy PDF that LIC issues, or type the details in; the scan can still be kept with the policy.
Where should I keep my LIC and term policy details so my family can claim?
Somewhere the family can see without your help. In FinLens every policy sits on the Healthcare page with its insurer, cover, the people it covers, the nominees and the premium dates; switch the Insurance area on under What my family can see, and the family members you choose see that list, as figures, never the file. Crores of rupees of life insurance money go unclaimed in India every year because nobody knew a policy existed: why, and how to prevent it.
What is the best way to track all my health and life insurance in India?
Keep every policy in one list with its insurer, cover, insured persons, nominees, premium and dates, and let the people who would claim see it. The Healthcare page does exactly that: LIC and HDFC ERGO papers fill the details in, the next premium or renewal is listed first, an unpaid premium shows as overdue and then as lapsed, and the list can be shared with your family.
